Market Compass
Trade Tensions, Geopolitical Risks, FED’s Rate Course
- Although the talks between the US and Chinese officials in London yielded positive results, the tensions in the markets over the tariff issue have not eased much due to Trump’s unpredictable behavior.
- Ahead of the US Producer Price Index (PPI) data for May, which will be released today, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) indicators published yesterday remained below expectations and did not have a significant impact on risk appetite.
- Despite both positive developments (the London talks and the lower-than-expected CPI), both Trump uncertainty and geopolitical risks seem to be the reason why markets are hesitant to take risks.
- US President Donald Trump announced plans to send letters of agreement to countries with tariff rates in about two weeks. Also yesterday, the US announced that it was evacuating people from the region amid heightened security risks and reports that Israel was considering military action against Iran.
- European stock markets are on the negative side and Wall Street is expected to start the day lower. Major digital assets have also been affected by the recent climate.
- In the rest of the day, US PPI data, Initial Jobless Claims, the results of the 30-year bond auction and statements from Senator Lummis and Commodity Futures and Trading Commission (CFTC) members will be followed.
- We mentioned yesterday that we foresee a climate in which major digital assets may struggle for further upside during the day. We maintain this expectation for the short term and will closely monitor developments later in the day. For the medium and long term, we maintain our bullish view.
