What is an Eclipse Attack?

An EIP (Ethereum Improvement Proposal) is a structured document used by the Ethereum community to suggest, discuss, and implement upgrades or changes to the blockchain. It serves as a blueprint that explains the idea, purpose, and technical details behind each proposed improvement, ensuring Ethereum evolves through open and transparent collaboration.

How is it work?

EIPs follow a clear and community-driven process.
Developers submit a proposal (draft) that is reviewed and refined through public discussion. Once consensus is reached, the EIP is approved and integrated into the network through planned upgrades.

Each proposal falls under categories such as Core, Networking, Interface, or ERC, addressing different aspects of Ethereum, from protocol updates to new token standards like ERC-20 or ERC-721.

Benefits

  • Encourages innovation through open collaboration between developers and users.
  • Ensures transparency and security by requiring public review before implementation.
  • Keeps the Ethereum network efficient, scalable, and adaptable to new technologies.
  • Enables standardization, allowing smooth integration of new tools, DApps, and tokens.
