MARKET COMPASS
Tariff Agenda
- Global markets are still reeling from US President Donald Trump’s frequently changing decisions and stance on tariffs.
- Most recently, we have seen reports that Trump is considering tariff exemptions on imported vehicles and parts to give car companies more time to build US production.
- This development, which is considered as another signal that Trump may soften on tariffs, had a positive impact on capital markets.
- Digital assets also continued to recover with the continued interest of institutional investors and recent developments that positively affected risk appetite.
In our last analysis, we stated that the equation could continue to have a positive impact on digital assets and that a short-term uptrend could be achieved. We think that the price changes we are monitoring support this and that the uptrend may continue for a while. However, by maintaining our bullish expectation for the long term, we underline that the pressure may return for the medium term.
Digital Compass
We consider it a very important development that a strategic crypto reserve is on the agenda in the US, the locomotive of the world economy. However, the fact that the markets had already priced in the “best case scenario” before and after the US elections, combined with the “less than perfect” news on this issue, put pressure on digital assets. We continue to keep the strategic reserve issue in our equation as a positive variable for cryptocurrencies in the long run. On the other hand, we think that we may continue to see pressure in the medium term with the lack of new news flow that will create enthusiasm in the crypto market and further concerns in global markets that global economic activity may slow down, especially with Trump’s tariffs. In the short term, markets will continue to be sensitive to macro indicators and developments regarding tariffs.
