US-China Trade Negotiations
- Trade talks between the two countries with the world’s largest economies continue to be on the agenda of global markets.
- The talks between the US and Chinese delegations continue in London today.
- It was seen that no significant progress was made after yesterday’s negotiations, but the US delegation made positive statements, revealing the desire of the two countries to prevent further escalation of tensions on the issue.
- President Trump said, “Our relationship with China is going well. China is not an easy country. I’m just getting good news.” US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said the talks were “productive”, while Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said it was a “good meeting”.
- Another issue preoccupying the markets is Trump’s tax bill. Before Juli 4th, there is talk that the Senate will demand revisions in the law, which is rushed to pass the Senate. It is stated that these updates will be in the tax and health care provisions in the 3 trillion dollar economic package.
- Before the Senate approval of the law, which will bring an additional burden to the US budget, the country’s treasury’s $22 billion 30-year bond auction on Donnerstag stands out. Investors see this auction as an important test for demand and confidence after Trump’s recent policy on the tax bill and tariffs. Bond yields eased slightly with the moderate news flow from London.
- The pressure on risk appetite brought by the recent controversy with Musk was somewhat relieved by expectations for trade talks. However, traditional markets do not seem eager to take more risk. Especially ahead of the US inflation indicators to be released this week, this climate may continue unless there is a surprise news flow.
- On the digital assets front, we observed a relatively more positive trend. Continued institutional investor interest was one of the prominent supporting factors.
