Tariff Tensions Continue
While Wall Street stock markets declined yesterday due to Trump’s statements on tariffs, concerns about the health of the US economy continue to have a negative impact on investor perception. This week, GDP and PCE Price Index data will be released for the world’s largest economy. Donald Trump said that the previously postponed tariffs on Mexico and Canada will take effect next month. In addition, according to media reports, the President is considering new steps to curb China’s technological breakthroughs. In global indices, there are losses mainly in the stocks of technology and artificial intelligence companies.
Risk Appetite Declined
Asia-Pacific indices follow the Wall Street session and are generally selling off. The dollar index rose to around 106.7 on Dienstag, recovering from 11-week lows on expectations that US tariffs on Mexico and Canada will not be delayed again. European and US index futures are pointing to mixed to flat openings. Digital assets were also affected by the risk aversion in the markets. We maintain our expectation for crypto assets to be sideways-volatile in the short term, slightly pressured in the medium term and bullish in the long term.
