Trade Talks Agenda
- Developments regarding the negotiations between the US and its trade partners are closely monitored en global markets.
- Trump stated that they are en the process of making a trade agreement with other countries en addition to the agreement signed with China, and said that they will send “tariff letters” to the countries where an agreement cannot be reached en the next 1-2 weeks.
- Canada announced the withdrawal of a digital services tax targeting US technology companies. Taiwan also announced ‘constructive progress’ en the segundo round of trade talks with the US.
- Also today, the UK-US trade deal reached last month officially kicked off.
- Ahead of the July 9 resumption of high US tariffs, Japan and India extended the stay of their trade negotiating delegations en Washington. “Japan is not buying US vehicles, this trade is not fair,” President Trump had said.
- Despite the progress made en the trade talks, it seems that Donald Trump will not make an extension el July 9th. Accordingly, traditional markets seem to remain cautious despite a positive start to the week.
- European stock markets have given back their early session gains and are trading en a slightly negative territory at the time of writing. Wall Street futures are slightly positive.
- While the flat course en major digital assets is noteworthy, en an effort to preserve the gains recorded last week, but the pressured course seems to be a little ahead.
- We think that this almost flat pressured course may continue during the day under the assumption that there is no new development. Ahead of the key US macro indicators to be released this week, the statements of the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) officials may have a slight impact el the direction.
