According to FBI data, crypto fraud reached $9.3 billion in 2024. The investment will enable Tether to enhance its real-time risk monitoring, fraud detection, and collaboration with global law enforcement agencies. The company reported that it has frozen over $2.7 billion in stablecoins from illegal use to date.

Bitcoins Stolen from Mt. Gox Targeted: Hackers Attack Old Wallets

According to a report by Decrypt, hackers have launched an attack on an old Bitcoin address stolen from the Mt. Gox exchange. A transaction containing a fake link was sent to the address starting with 1FeexV using the OP_RETURN function. The message directed users to a fake website claiming the wallet was “abandoned” and attempting to collect personal information from investors. BitMEX stated that this attack was a Bitcoin scam and that investors should be cautious.

US Department of Justice Files $650 Million Crypto Lawsuit

The US Department of Justice has charged Michael Shannon Sims of Georgia and Juan Carlos Reynoso of New Jersey with running OmegaPro, a $650 million international fraud scheme. The suspects allegedly sold foreign exchange investment packages paid for with cryptocurrency, promised returns of 300%, and then withdrew the funds and transferred them to personal wallets.

Daily Net Inflows into Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs Continue

According to data from Lookonchain, as of today, a total of 1,869 BTC (approximately $203 million) in net inflows were recorded across 10 Bitcoin ETFs. Of this amount, 1,388 BTC belongs to BlackRock’s iShares ETF.

Ethereum ETFs saw inflows of 23,129 ETH (approximately $59.76 million). The largest inflow was 20,670 ETH, belonging to iShares.
