US Nonfarm Payrolls Data Revised Upward

The US Department of Labor revised April nonfarm payrolls from 147,000 to 158,000 and May payrolls from 139,000 to 144,000. As a result, the total two-month employment increase was 16,000 higher than previous estimates. In June, nonfarm payrolls increased by 147,000, exceeding the market expectation of 110,000.

U.S. Unemployment Rate Below Expectations in June: 4.1%

The U.S. unemployment rate for June 2025 was reported at 4.1%, below the market expectation of 4.3%. The rate had been recorded at 4.2% in the previous month. As signs of recovery in the labor market continue, another piece of data that could influence the Fed’s interest rate decisions has emerged.

Tether Catches Up to USDC in BitPay Transaction Volume

In 2024, USDC nearly doubled USDT in stablecoin transactions on BitPay. However, by 2025, this trend reversed, and Tether (USDT) began to catch up with USDC in BitPay payments. This shift indicates an increasing preference for Tether among commercial businesses and users in their transaction choices.

Metaplanet Forms Partnership to Acquire Thai DV8 Company

Simon Gerovich, founder of Japan-based Metaplanet, has initiated a voluntary bidding process to acquire DV8, a company listed on the Thai Stock Exchange, in collaboration with Bitcoin-focused investors and institutions. Notable players such as UTXO Management, Kliff Capital, Sora Ventures, and Moon Inc. are also participating in the process.

The acquisition is said to be aimed at expanding Metaplanet’s Bitcoin strategy regionally.

US Treasury Secretary: If Tariff Talks Drag On, Taxes Could Return to Previous Levels

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessant warned that tariffs could rise to April 2 levels if no progress is made in trade talks. Bessant, who said he would meet with EU negotiators today, said domestic and foreign demand for US Treasury bonds was “strong.” He also argued that the Fed had made “delayed and biased” decisions on interest rates.

South Korean Court Orders Coinone to Return Extra BTC to Users

In 2018, a systemic error at the Coinone exchange resulted in users mistakenly withdrawing BTC. In a case concluded in May 2025, the Seoul Court ruled that the users must return all Bitcoin they obtained during that period. At the time, the BTC price was approximately $5,200–$5,800, roughly one-twentieth of its current value.
