US Federal Reserve (Fed) Keeps Policy Rate Unchanged
According to the Wall Street Journal, the Fed kept the federal funds rate unchanged at 4.25%-4.50% and slowed the pace of balance sheet reduction as of April 1. The upper limit for the monthly reduction of US Treasury bonds was reduced to $5 billion, while the monthly reduction limit for mortgage-backed securities (MBS) was kept at $35 billion. The Fed revised its 2025 growth forecast downwards, while raising its inflation forecast.

Fed Chairman Jerome Powell stated that there is no need to rush to cut interest rates or maintain the current tight policy, but that they will act depending on economic data. Powell stated that the US economy is strong, but consumer spending is slowing, and economic uncertainties are increasing.
