Censorship-resistance
Censorship-resistance is a key property of blockchain networks like Bitcoin, ensuring that anyone can send or receive transactions as long as they follow the protocol rules. Unlike traditional financial systems controlled by intermediaries, decentralized networks are designed so no government, bank, or corporation can block or alter valid transactions.
Once a transaction is recorded on the blockchain and distributed across thousands of nodes, it becomes nearly impossible to change or remove – making the network immutable and thrustless. This guarantees that users can store and transfer value freely, without fear of arbitrary restrictions.
Bitcoin is the most well-known example of censorship-resistance. It protects users from account freezes, political interference, or financial discrimination. While a 51% attack could theoretically enable censorship, it would require enormous resources, making it highly unlikely.
In short, censorship-resistance is one of the strongest innovations of cryptocurrency, giving individuals financial freedom that traditional systems cannot guarantee.
