Tariff Agenda
- The direction in which the trade wars will evolve continues to be at the top of the markets’ agenda. Donald Trump’s criticism of US Federal Reserve Chairman Powell also drew attention.
- Following reportedly positive talks with Japan, Trump met with Italian President Meloni yesterday and stated that he believes they can reach an agreement with the European Union (EU) on tariffs. It is also rumored that the President does not favor higher tariffs for China.
- Wall Street will be closed today for Good Cuma. In Europe, stock markets in the UK, France, Germany, Italy and Spain are also closed.
- There are clues for stabilization in global markets where low volumes were observed due to the holiday. It can be stated that more moderate news flows on the trade war are effective in this.
- We think that we may see tight price changes in digital assets with relatively low volume for the rest of the day and at the end of the week.
Digital Compass
We consider it a very important development that a strategic crypto reserve is on the agenda in the US, the locomotive of the world economy. However, the fact that the markets had already priced in the “best case scenario” before and after the US elections, combined with the “less than perfect” news on this issue, put pressure on digital assets. We continue to keep the strategic reserve issue in our equation as a positive variable for cryptocurrencies in the long run. On the other hand, we think that we may continue to see pressure in the medium term with the lack of new news flow that will create enthusiasm in the crypto market and further concerns in global markets that global economic activity may slow down, especially with Trump’s tariffs. In the short term, markets will continue to be sensitive to macro indicators and developments regarding tariffs.
