Trump Imposes 100% Tariff on Semiconductors and Apple Promises $100 Billion Investment

The Trump administration announced that it will impose a 100% tariff on semiconductors that are not manufactured in the US. In a joint statement with Apple CEO Tim Cook, it was announced that Apple will invest an additional $100 billion in US manufacturing. This move will bring Apple’s total investment in the US to $600 billion.

Trump: Reciprocal Tariffs Take Effect Tonight

In a statement on social media, Trump said that billions of dollars would be returned from countries that have benefited from the US for many years and that reciprocal tariffs would take effect tonight. He described left-leaning courts as the biggest obstacle facing the country.

San Francisco Fed President Daly said that weakness in the labor market could necessitate an interest rate cut and that this decision could be made “in the coming months.” Fed Chair Cook emphasized that sharp revisions to July employment data are a sign of economic fragility.

Demand for US 10-year Treasury auction remains low

The US Treasury’s $42 billion 10-year Treasury auction yielded a high yield of 4.25%. The bid-to-cover ratio fell to 2.35, the lowest level since August 2024. US investors accounted for 19.6% of direct bids, while foreign investors accounted for 64.2%.

Net Fund Inflows Continue in Bitcoin and Ethereum Spot ETFs

According to SoSoValue data, there was a total net inflow of $91.55 million into Bitcoin spot ETFs yesterday. BlackRock’s IBIT ETF alone saw inflows of 41.92 million dollars. On the Ethereum side, total net inflows amounted to 35.12 million dollars. BlackRock’s ETHA ETF stood out with the highest daily inflow of 33.38 million dollars. Only the Grayscale Ethereum Mini Trust ETF experienced net outflows in ETH terms.
